Creating Your “Sweet Spot”

Let’s begin

Do you have one room or corner or spot in your home that you can use as your “retreat” bubble? If you say “no”, then I encourage you to look a little deeper. Even when we share space, we can find one corner to claim. This retreat bubble is for you: Let’s build it!

Landing place
Choose a chair, couch, or large pillow.
Add a nice comfy blanket.

Nature
Add some plants or fresh flowers. Do not overload yourself with plants as they can overstimulate and require a lot of care. This area is not meant to add any additional work or responsibility. Choose a beautiful gemstone or rock for grounding and earth energy. Do not read a book about what to choose, just find something that you like.

Light and Fire
Bring in one unscented candle and candle holder. You can also use a battery operated candle. Choose a nice small lamp that you can use for reading or contemplation.

Scent
You can bring in scent – a diffuser or plain essential oils. For a retreat space, I recommend using Lavender. If you can buy local lavender that is the best,  I also like Pompeii Organics as a reliable and affordable resource.

View
Choose a favorite piece of artwork for a focal point. If you have a nice window view, utilize that as well. Have flexible window treatments, so that you can open and close the view at your discretion. “It’s about controlling the space.”

Sound
Bring in music, perhaps some relaxing tunes that uplift you, sound healing, etc. I prefer an old fashioned cd player as opposed to Spotifiy, Pandora, etc.

Disconnect
No television – if there is one in the room, cover it with a beautiful cloth. Keep the phone off or at least on silent. Give your body/mind a break.

Slippers/Robe
If you have the time to embrace your indoor retreat, keep your softest slippers and robe available.

Taste and Food
Have some hydration and taste treats available. Pure water in a beautiful glass, relaxing tea, etc. Perhaps I an also bring in Bon Bons, a glass of champagne or an espresso?

Spiritual Support
Bring in a statue, icon, or image of your spiritual connection. You know what that is. I personally like to have an Angel close to me.

Enjoy your retreat and nurture yourself always!
